On this day (April 17) in the year 1857, the following advertisement appeared in the "Maine Free Press" (Belfast, Maine) page 4: - - - - - - - - - Something New. Miss M. MacFarlane Takes pleasure in announcing to the public that having recently learned the DAGUERREAN ART, she is now prepared to furnish with Pictures those who may favor her with their custom. Her pictures are warranted to give entire satisfation, and are put up in so durable a manner that they will never fade. Miniatures neatly inserted in Pins, Lockets, Bracelets, &c. Also put up in Plain and Fancy Cases. The public are respectfully invited to call and examine specimens at her Rooms in HUNT'S BLOCK, CAMDEN, Me.
